Chad's Job Interview

So, last week Chad and I left on Sunday to go to Orange Beach, Al. It was soo fun. The trip was 7 1/2 hours, but it went by really fast. We loved just having all that time to ourselves. I got the book A time to Kill from the library, and I read that out loud as we drove as well. Here are a few things we saw on the way there:

Welcome to Alabama!! A rocket ship!!

Day St. We're so popular they named a street after us.

Chad has a couple of jobs right now, one of them being a Valet Parker at the Marriott, so we were able to get a hotel room at the Marriott for $35!! It was right across the street from the beautiful beach. I must say I was impressed, it was a beautiful hotel.

I absolutely loved the beach there! It was so quiet there, the water was clear and the sand was white. The sand actually squeaked when we walked on it.

We forgot our beach chairs so Chad made this little sand bed for us, it was perfect for laying out in the sun, and so comfy.

We ate at this AWESOME restaurant while we were there called Lambert's Cafe. There are only 3 in the whole U.S. and Southern Living ranked it in the top 10 restaurants to pig out at. Sounds like my kind of restaurant right? It was so fun. First you order an entree, which is any Southern food you can think of, and then all the waiters walk around in overalls and straw hats carrying bowls and pots around with fried okra, mac n cheese, fried potatoes and onions, etc. You can have as much as you want, you just raise your hand and they come to you. And then they walk around with this big cart of rolls (they were huge!) and you just raise your hand and they throw the roll to you. If you want to know more about the restaurant just go to www.throwedrolls.com. we Loved it!! Here's our food:

Oh and another thing I loved about it, they totally play practical jokes on everyone, this lady "squirted" some mustard on Chad. It was a bottle of mustard with a long yellow peice of yarn, he totally jumped. And then she almost "spilled" some "coke" on me... just a pitcher of Molasses, I totally screamed! It was fun watching her play the jokes on everyone in the restaurant and watching them crack up.

Chad looking for shells on the beach for Hal and O. He's so cute!!

So, Chad and I were so stupid. I typically don't burn on my arms and legs, so I didn't put sunscreen on those parts. We totally got FRIED on Monday. OUCH it hurt sooo bad!!! I was in pain for the rest of that week. I'm talking MISERABLE!!! I will NEVER do that again. Chad was in a lot of pain too. We didn't touch each other for like 2 days. haha.

Okay on to the Interview. First of all I want to tell ya'll how he found out about this position. When Chad interviewed with the downtown YMCA in Nashville he interviewed with Zach, who ended up hiring him at the Y. Well, Zach no longer works with the Y. He got this other Job with the University of Alabama. Well around Christmas time, Chad was on his way home from Cookeville, but had to stop at Walmart to get some oil for the car. He almost didn't, but decided to anyways. He was in the oil section of walmart when He looked up and saw the back of someone's head that he thought looked like Zach, he yelled his name and sure enough it was Zach, who just happened to be driving through Cookeville from Kentucky and had stopped at Walmart. Chad tells him about the Y and how they had demoted him and all that, and Zach tells Chad that they would be posting an aquatics position with Alabama soon, and to keep his eyes open. So sure enough Chad found the opening and had the first interview last month.

They called him back for a second this past week. They paid for his gas and a hotel room. His interview was on Tuesday night, Dinner and a tour of campus and then ALL day Wednesday. He had a presentation, he met with all these people, went in a question/answer panel, toured all 6 pools etc. Chad came back from his interview and told me that he thought it went really, really well. He really wants this job. He would be teaching classes, helping them come up with activities, overseeing the pools and lifeguards, etc. Not only that but, we would only have to pay for half of his masters!

While he was interviewing, I drove around the town of Tuscaloosa and I liked it! They have everything that we have here and it seemed like a nice little town. We should hear something this week, but of course it's always later then what they say. We will let you know when we do. We are trying really hard not to get our hopes up. Of course, I think it will be so hard to leave our families, and sell our house, but this job just sounds so good for him!

Chad and I had a wonderful time together and I'm so glad we had this little Vacation. Thank you Vicki for Watching the Kids it means everything to us!!Chad never smiles in pics :(

That's great that you got to check out the town while he was interviewing to get a "feel" for it at least if it does work out. It will be hard to live further from both your families, but I know either way this experience is one full of growth for both ya'll!

Hey, I've been to Lambert's when I was on my mission. They have one in Southern Illinois - Cape Girarde I think. It's been a while. I loved it! I loved that they threw the rolls! I'm glad you at least got a fun vacation out of it! I miss the beach so much! It looks like heaven!
