Question?
What do all you Mothers out there do during the day with your kids? I feel like I'm just trying to get through the day, make it go by faster. Do ya'll have a set schedule for them? I mean what do you do to entertain them? Teach them? I feel like I need to be doing more with my kids, any ideas?

You could bake, make a fun craft (they have so many funs ones for kids, I see them all the time when I look for crafts to do with my patients) or just take then on a walk at the park. Those are just some ideas.
First of I would tell you to visit www.momoflittles.com. The woman who does that blog also does Biblical Womanhood and Money Saving Mom. All those links are on my blog. Anyway, she is our age and has two little girls and is expecting her third child May 1st. (Eily's bd.) Scroll down to a few posts before the most current one and she has a description of her day that has some good ideas in it. This is how I want it to go at my house but it doesn't a lot of the time. Wake up,potty time, breakfast, then we get them dressed and make their bed and pick up any toys from the night before, then I usually get all the rooms just picked up and the diswasher emptied etc... (A good website to visit is www.flylady.com. She has a good morning routine that I try to use everyday.) Then by the time all that is accomplished, it is Eily's am nap time and while she sleeps we have snack and then quiet time where Claire has to play quietly on a blanket (we are just starting this so it still is a little rough) while I do schoolwork with Elaina. I got some pre-k workbooks that she really loves and we are doing Teach Your Child to Read in 101 Lessons. It's the best way I have seen to teach a child to read. I have taught one other kid this way and Mom used it and all my brother's kids learned with it. Elaina loves school and we are taking it really slow repeating lessons several times if I feel we need to but she is really young so I wouldn't necessarily suggest that. You have to use your own judgement. Then we play/computer time for me until I have to get lunch ready. We eat and they have to lay in their bed.Eily goes down for her afternoon nap. The older two never go to sleep but it gives me a couple of hours to relax and sometimes sleep. When they "wake up" we have snack again and then they play or watch a movie while I re-clean the house, do laundry, start supper, etc... and then we just play together or seperate until Daddy gets home. I like Crystal's idea of Tea and Choclate time and I think after the holidays I'm going to start doing that. Once Daddy gets home we eat, do baths and teeth brushing and then they go to bed at 7. Remember, this doesn't flow as nice as it sounds. But it does keep the day going if you have a schedule.
I go over in my head all the time about how can I be a better mom and do more things with my kids...
I take everything day to day. One day I might make make cookies. One week we might do a craft. Other days we just play. Some days they "help" me clean. Doing something every day sounds good to me but just doesn't happen for me. I wish that it did! I think the important thing is just being with them. Weither it is reading books, playing with cars on the floor, or doing something like the park or a craft.
Then again, this is what works for me...I am sure not for others.
That is like the story of my life! Trying to figure out how to make the day go quicker and to avoid t.v.! Tell me what you find out!! Also- do you think I could get your home address so I could send you a Christmas card? I am attempting to do them this year!

It's actually 100 Eay lessons. I don't know why I messed that up. You can get it at Books A Million or probably any book store. The little pre-K book we got is called Get Ready for Pre-K by jane Carole. It is great! It is Elaina's favorite thing to do. We always do our reading lesson first and then for dessert we do a few pages in that book. My number is 479-629-2733 and Jason's is 479-629-3259.
Ok. I just looked at the cover and it's actually called Teach Your Child To Read in 100 Easy Lessons.
